This compact evergreen shrub, known as the ‘Heavenly Bamboo’ is primary grown for its handsome year-round foliage.The new growth in spring is a fiery red before gradually, turning a rich green, which shows of the white conical inflorescences that appear in late summer.
This winter hardy variety, thrives in sun or partial shade in well-drained soil. Ideal as a specimen plant in a mix border or mixed with other plants in a container.
Requires little maintenance other than trimming back upward shoots in late spring which keeps the plant compact and increases the number of red shoots. water as necessary, especially if grown in a container.
